The number one question Marcus gets asked is “How Do You Get Abs?” but his response is… there is a science behind getting abs. It depends on what you eat, when you eat, and they type of training that you do.

Marcus said the first step to working to get abs is identifying your base number of calories. You can use this macro-nutrient calculator to identify your base calories that you need depending on what your goal is. So when you use that calculator it will ask you for things such as your age, height, weight, gender, activity level and goals such as losing weight or gaining weight. Once you enter in these details you will be able to identify your base calorie rate.

Marcus said once you have this information you can start calculating what your macro goals are. This way the calculator will give you a break down of how many grams of proteins, fats, and carbs to aim for on a daily basis. You can then use tools such as MyFitnessPal to log your food and see a graph of your macros. Following this will help you get closer to get abs.

Burn Belly Fat

Marcus trains people on all different fitness levels and says that some people want to achieve abs, while others just want to get the weight off their mid-section and burn the belly fat. Unfortunately, there is no real way to spot treat a specific area of the body like that but there are a few secrets that you can do to help you burn belly fat such as eating some foods like mono-saturated fats from avocados, almonds, and oils these are the healthy fats that will do good for your body. Good fats burn through the bad fats.

The way you eat also matters. Marcus recommends that you follow IIFYM (If it fits your macros) as this type of flexible dieting is what many competitors do, which gives them the opportunity to eat a variety of foods as long as it fits their macros of course.
